Among the artisans of this sensory brilliance, one name still resonates: Sébastien Matte La Faveur. Master perfumer from Montpellier and apothecary to the king, he received the privilege of composing the scented waters of the Court. Through him, the olfactory heritage of Languedoc, a land of aromatic plants, knowledge, and light, was invited to Versailles. He brought back the Eau de la Reine de Hongrie, and brought apothecary tradition into dialogue with Baroque elegance.
