Incorporate Ecusson Cologne into your well-being ritual after showering for deliciously scented skin for the whole day.

Did you know that if we perceive it today "simply" as a light perfume, at the end of the 17th century it was considered a miracle cure, it was renowned for its therapeutic virtues and was even recognized by the Academy of Medicine in 1727 as a beneficial product for health

The ritual for wearing perfume is different for everyone, depending on their preferences, habits and tips. Some prefer to perfume their clothes and others directly on the skin.

On the skin, areas allow more intense diffusion. These are the pulsation points, places where the body releases more heat and therefore better diffusion of perfume (inside the wrists, behind the ears, on the back of the neck, on the chest).

Eau de Cologne for women

Eau de Cologne originated in Cologne, Germany, under the name "Aqua Mirabilis" or "Eau Admirable" (amazing, wonderfull and admirable water), and is generally attributed to Jean-Marie Farina in 1709. It would appear, however, that he was merely its ambassador, a court case confirming the creation of Eau de Cologne in 1695 by his uncle, the perfumer and liquorist Giovanni Paolo Feminis. Composed of eau de vie de vin, natural ingredients such as rosemary and lemon balm, and citrus essences such as citron, lemon and bitter orange, it may also include extracts of fine lavender and benzoin.

This refined Cologne scent quickly gained popularity in Europe and was adopted by the French nobility. By the mid-18th century, pleasant lemon scents were becoming fashionable at the French court. The Marquise de Pompadour, Louis XV's favorite, imposed this German water, which can be consumed as a delicate Cologne aroma or rubbed onto the body with a cloth, as a remedy, a discreet feminine perfume. The popularity of these delicate lemon notes grew over the centuries, and Empress Josephine contributed to its success. While over the years, Eaux de Cologne gained in popularity and were exported throughout Europe, it wasn't until the 19th century that the first delicate Cologne bouquets specifically designed for women emerged. Perfumers began to embellish the pleasant lemon scent by creating variations with softer Cologne floral notes than the original formula, adapted to women's olfactory preferences.

It was at this time that French houses began to produce their own interpretations of Eau de Cologne, feminine spring scents adapting the spirit of the original formula by adding a fresh floral bouquet and sometimes even woody notes. Women's Eaux de Cologne, more recently known as women's eaux fraiches, underwent a significant evolution during the 20th century with the introduction of new techniques for manufacturing natural ingredients and the use of innovative raw materials. Advances in fragrance chemistry have enabled perfumers to work with a wider range of ingredients to produce refined Cologne scents, light, complex and sophisticated women's compositions. In addition, the growing influence of fashion and popular culture has shaped fragrance trends, leading to the emergence of new styles and brands on the market.

How to choose the right Eau de Cologne for women?

The feminine Cologne nuances of women's olfactory compositions are vast and varied, reflecting the diversity of tastes and trends. Women's fragrance creations with floral, fruity and herbaceous notes are among the most common, offering a range of subtle women's fragrances from sparkling lemon spring scents to delicate flowers and freshly cut herbs. Some women's Eaux de Cologne remain delicate lemon scents, others are more floral Cologne accords, while some have fruity Cologne notes or feature woody, spicy or musky accords, adding depth and sensuality to the original women's citrus fragrance.

How can I prolong the life of a woman's Eau de Cologne fragrance?

The longevity of a woman's Eau de Cologne, of a woman's light fragrance, may be a decisive consideration for those seeking a Cologne spring fragrance that lasts throughout the day. Citrus notes, Cologne's lemony harmonies, are highly volatile top notes, in keeping with the impression of a light lemon fragrance. To enhance the longevity of women's lemon fragrances, the presence of musks, fruity notes, woody notes or oak moss will be appreciated.

Perfume concentration also plays an essential role in durability. Eaux de Cologne are generally dosed at 4-6% odorants, a concentration characteristic of these waters and linked to the specific light Cologne scent sought. For longer-lasting wear, the consumer should prefer an eau de parfum or perfume, with a higher concentration of odorants, and not turn to Eaux de Cologne.

How to apply Eau de Cologne correctly to maximize its effect?

Applying women's Eau de Cologne correctly is essential to maximize its effect and fully enjoy the explosion of these fresh feminine accords. Choosing the right moment. Eaux de Cologne and lemon spring accords are ideal for daytime wear, especially in warm weather. Choose the right places. Spray this gentle fragrance for women on strategic areas of the body where heat can help diffuse the scent. Pulse points such as the neck, wrists, inside elbows and behind the ears are excellent places to apply delicate lemon fragrance. Keep a distance. Hold the spray bottle about 15-20 centimeters from your skin to ensure even distribution of the feminine floral fragrance, without over-concentrating it on a single area. Reapply as needed. As women's Eaux de Cologne tend to fade more quickly than concentrated fragrances, don't hesitate to reapply throughout the day to revive this women's eau de parfum.

Which plants are most often used in women's Eau de Cologne?

Many natural ingredients, extracted from plants, are often used alone or in combination to create a wide range of olfactory nuances in women's Eaux de Cologne, or women's light fragrances, offering a variety of options to suit individual preferences. Examples include bergamot, lemon, orange and mandarin in the citrus or hesperidia family for a fruity Cologne scent, while the most classically used floral facets are rose and jasmine, while lavender and verbena provide more aromatic, citrusy or green notes.

Lily of the valley: for a light, spring-like fragrance

As lily of the valley is a muted flower, perfumers use synthetic ingredients to create lily of the valley bouquets, which can be combined with lemon spring fragrances.

Rose: for delicate, romantic feminine notes

The queen of flowers enriches feminine lemon formulations with rosy floral nuances, lychee and geranium.

Freesia: for a sparkling touch

Freesia, another mute flower, is bound to give birth to chimerical compositions, the result of combining synthetic and/or natural ingredients to create pleasantly feminine, floral and light compositions.

Jasmine: for sweet notes

Jasmine produces an absolute, a natural ingredient widely used in women's Eaux de Cologne. While the term "sweet" may not be appropriate, as it relates to the culinary register, jasmine ingredients will give body to a lemony Cologne creation, with prolonged hold and animalic facets.
